Ngaa mihi nui ki a koutou katoa, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Kia Orana, and warm Pacific greetings to our Maangere Bridge School whaanau.
Welcome to Term 4! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break with your tamariki. Term 4 is always an action-packed, vibrant, and meaningful time of the school year as we prepare to celebrate the growth, effort, and successes of all our students.
A warm welcome to all of our new tamariki and whaanau who joined the Maangere Bridge School community at the start of Term 4! We are honoured to welcome you during our poowhiri. A sincere thank you to all the parents, caregivers and whaanau who attended to support our new students as they began their journey with us. We also extend a special ngaa mihi to our Presiding Member Justis Kamu for speaking on behalf of the manuhiri during the ceremony. We are excited to partner with you in supporting your child’s learning and growth.
This term, our Pou Tuuhono Student Inquiry theme is centred around the concept ‘I can celebrate’, with a core focus on the Social Sciences curriculum area.
Throughout the year, our tamariki have been engaging in rich learning experiences across all learning areas. Term 4 provides a special opportunity for students to gather their learning reflections, recognise their personal shifts and growth, and celebrate their milestones and achievements alongside their peers, teachers, and whaanau. Whether through learning portfolios on HERO, classroom presentations, or school-wide events, we look forward to acknowledging the hard work and dedication each child has demonstrated across 2026.
We want to extend a massive congratulations to our incredible Kapa Haka group who represented Maangere Bridge School with immense pride, passion, and heart at the Tuuhono Kapa Haka Competition. They took to the stage with confidence, honoring our kura, our maunga, and our moana. We also congratulate all the winners on the day.
A sincere thank you to our dedicated tutors Matua Tepe’a, Whaea Winona, and Whaea Te Ana as well as our kaiawhina staff and parent helpers. Your unwavering support and guidance in preparing our tamariki during practices and over the school holiday break made this a memorable opportunity. Thank you also to all the whaanau who came along to support and cheer on our group on the day!
If you have walked past our school grounds recently, you will have seen our stunning new signage featuring our redesigned school crest and core school values ‘Kotahitanga, Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, and Rangatiratanga’
A special thank you to Matua Tepe’a and a group of our students from Te Hiaroa who led a beautiful blessing of the new crest signs positioned around our school gates. These updates honour our connection to the Tainui Waikato rohe and recognise the double vowel in Maangere Bridge School. It has been fantastic to receive so much positive feedback from our school community and visitors acknowledging this exciting milestone!
We are delighted to share that the remarking of lines on our school courts has been completed! Our tamariki are already enjoying the fresh court spaces for sports, physical education, and play.
We are thrilled to announce that our school swimming pool is also opening this week and our students will be able to start swimming. Each classroom will be timetabled to use the swimming pool. Following the recent refurbishments, we will be holding an official launch celebration right after Labour Weekend to mark the occasion. We will ensure to inform you with more updates soon.
This project was made possible through the generous support of our families during our annual School Fun Run held last term, which raised over $12,000. We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the parents, caregivers, and supporters who donated and contributed. Every dollar raised directly enhances our physical learning environment, sports equipment, and pool refurbishment projects for our tamariki.
As we head into the warmer months, please also remember our Sun Smart Policy for Term 4. All students are required to wear a sun hat during our break times and reminded about “No hat, No Play”. Our students who do not wear a sun hat must sit under the shaded areas of the school. Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly labeled with their name.
Term 4 is filled with memorable milestones, cultural celebrations, and EOTC opportunities. Please refer to the calendar dates for Term 4 to ensure you can join us for some of these special events.
Thank you all for your continued partnership, energy, and support as we embark on this final term together. Let us make it a memorable and uplifting celebration of our tamariki and their achievements!
Ngaa mihi nui, Fa’afetai lava,
