Naa, Te Puea Heerangi (former student of Maangere Bridge School)
Do you have a vision for nurturing a collaborative and positive culture in our community? Do you have a passion for Te Marautanga?
We’re excited to announce an opportunity for an innovative and inspiring leader to join our team as a Deputy Principal!
The mana of Te Puea is undeniable. Her qualities of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, kotahitanga and rangatiratanga are what defines excellence and equity at Maangere Bridge School. Her life reminds us of how to care for our tamariki and to protect our people.
Maangere Bridge School seeks to invigorate Te Puea’s ethos through our commitment to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We see this is not only the responsibility of our kaiako, but all staff and governance. We are taking a restorative approach to ‘giving effect to Te Tiriti’ and ensuring that there is leadership in Te Tiriti capability at all levels of the school.
We are a welcoming and caring school located at the base of Te Pane o Mataoho. We proudly serve a diverse and multicultural community with over a third of our student population who whakapapa Maaori. Nested within the school is our taonga rumaki reo unit, Te Hiaroa.
This Deputy Principal position provides a unique opportunity for an emerging or established rangatira to be part of the leadership team. It has a high focus on supporting our kaiako and kaiaarahi in Te Hiaroa and weaving elements (te reo, tikanga, maatauranga) of Te Marautanga into broader school-wide leadership responsibilities. They will have a proven ability to use data to target learning outcomes for all aakonga and accelerate the progress of priority learners. They will be committed to leading learning that will engage and empower our Tamariki to reach their full potential.
It is anticipated that Maangere Bridge School will grow and we want to ensure that we strengthen our values-driven foundations with the necessary infrastructure and cultural capability to provide a safe and thriving learning environment for all our tamariki.
This position is available from Term 1, 2024 – start date is negotiable.
Applications close 22 January 2023 with interviews expected to be held in the following week.
