Firstly, I would like to say thank you to our school community for your ongoing support throughout the term. It has been a full and vibrant time of learning, growth and connection across the kura.
We finished off the term on a high note with our School Fun Run event! It was great to see our tamariki participate with enthusiasm, energy and school spirit. Congratulations to all of our students who ran and placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th and to every student who showed determination in our school cross-country event.
A massive thank you to all of our students, whaanau and supporters who sponsored and raised funds for our kura. Thanks to your tremendous effort and community spirit, we raised an astounding total of $12,450.00. We would like to recognise the exceptional efforts of our top fundraisers. Room 5 who was the class that raised the highest amount of $2600.00 and Ofa Taumoepeau a student in Room 15 who raised the highest amount of $1180.00.
A special shout-out goes to Whaea Jenny and our dedicated ‘Fun Run Ambassadors’ from Room 5 for encouraging and motivating all students to support our annual fundraiser. The funds raised will go towards remarking the lines on our courts, the swimming pool refurbishment and other resources. We look forward to the next School Fun Run Event in 2027.
Te Wiki o Te Reo Maaori kicked off with an amazing parakuihi (breakfast) launch across the kura by our Te Hiaroa kaiako, kaiawhina and whaanau inviting all tamariki and staff. This was followed by a fantastic week of events including the maaori traditional game ‘kii-o-rahi competition which the students thoroughly enjoyed. A special ngaa mihi to Te Pane o Mataoho Room 19 for hosting the whole school assembly, showcasing beautiful waiata, sharing of rich learning and culture. Thank you also to everyone who supported our school fundraisers held on behalf of Kea, Te Hiaroa and Tumau le Fa’avae. All funds raised will go towards the whaanau teams specific needs.
Our Term 3 Pou Tuuhono (Student Inquiry) focussed on the Health and Physical Education Curriculum area and concept ‘I can Reflect’. Throughout the term, our teachers and kaiako have been able to share students learning on HERO which you can access using the app. We encourage all parents to log in and celebrate your child’s achievements.
Thank you to all parents and whaanau who took the time to complete our two key community surveys this term.
- Community Engagement and New Curriculum Survey
- Health and Physical Education Curriculum Delivery Survey
Your feedback is important and the School Board will use the information gathered to support the final Health Curriculum Delivery Statement and the Strategic Goals for the school as part of meeting the Ministry of Education requirements.
We are thrilled to highlight the installation of our new signage featuring a newly designed school crest and our school values ‘Kotahitanga, Maanakitanga, Kaitiakitanga and Rangatiratanga’ with patterns that reflects cultural identity and includes our school vision ‘aroha, ako, angitu’ prominently displayed around the school gates. This significant update also recognises the double vowel in Maangere Bridge School, reflecting our place within the Tainui Waikato rohe/region while acknowledging and honoring our shared history.
I would like to extend a special note of appreciation to Matua Haki Wilson, who stepped into the role of Acting Principal. Matua Haki did an outstanding job guiding our school, supporting staff and keeping the day to day operations running smoothly during my leave.
Thank you also to our dedicated SLT, Leadership team, Kaiako, teacher aides, caretaker and administration staff who worked very hard this term. We also acknowledge some of our staff who have had close family members pass away.
To our parents, caregivers, whaanau, PTA Committee whether you helped to volunteer for sports events, attended community hui, fono, supported fundraising or ensured your child arrived ready for learning every day, thank you, ngaa mihi, fa’afetai tele lava for your efforts. Every contribution, big or small makes a real difference.
Looking ahead to Term 4 we know this is always an action-packed and exciting term filled with significant milestones and end of year celebrations. We will begin with our Poowhiri to welcome all our new students and whaanau joining Maangere Bridge School.
We look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for our final term. We hope you enjoy the rest of the school holiday break with your families.
