Welcome Back to Term 2!
Welcome back everyone and we hope you all had a good school holiday break. I would like to acknowledge all of our new students and whaanau who attended our Poowhiri. We have also appointed a new kaiako for Te Ara Puueru who will be starting at the end of Term 2 and will share more detail soon. Our Te Hiaroa Whaanau Hui and Samoan Immersion Unit/Iunite Samoa Fono was held in the first week and we had a successful turn out. We continue to track our school attendance as well as celebrating students who are attending school regularly. We ask that our students remember to wear their school jumpers and dress warm due to the winter weather.  If your child has lost their jumper you can check the lost and found property next to Room 7. Thank you parents and whaanau for completing the community survey to gather your feedback on the updated school crest/logo which was very positive. Our staff also had an opportunity to share their insights and comments. We look forward to seeing the final design in our signage around the school which aligns with our Strategic and Annual Goal for 2026.

Scheduled times will be shared for you to book your meeting time with your child’s classroom teacher. Our goal is for 90% parent attendance on both nights. Iunite Samoa/Samoa Immersion Unit Launch
Official Launch – Thursday 4th June
At the beginning of this year we started the first class Years 1 – 3 of Iunite Samoa/Samoa Immersion Unit with a total of 19 students and Faiaoga/Teacher Ms Lisi Seve. On behalf of the School Board and our staff we are excited to officially launch and announce the name of the Unit on Thursday 4th June Samoa Language Week. We will be having a Lotu/Service and an Ava Ceremony at 12 pm with the parents of the Samoa Unit, School Board, Mana Whenua and other special guests from the community who have been part of the journey. There will be performances from our students to celebrate and mark this special occasion in the afternoon. Mrs Tofilau who is one of our Deputy Principals will be leading the Samoa Unit. Since 2016 the Matua/parents of the community had shared through talanoa/conversations about their dreams of starting up a Pacific Bilingual Unit. After 10 years we are very proud to see this journey come to a reality with the support and guidance of our previous and current School Board, Ministry of Education, New Zealand Pacific Principals Association, Tautai o le Moana and most importantly our staff and community. This was also part of the next steps from our ERO Report Education Review Office – Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga to implement a Pacific Bilingual Unit in the school. Fa’afetai tele lava for everyones support. Viia le Ali’i!
