Teacher aide/Kaiawhina – ‘Te Hiaroa’ Maaori Bilingual Unit

We are seeking a passionate and committed Kaiawhina/Teacher Aide to join our supportive Team of Kaiako in Te Hiaroa, our Maaori Bilingual Unit. This role is a fixed term position covering our maternity leave.
Start Date: Term 3 Monday 20th July and ends December 17th 2026 the last day of 2026.
Part time hours: 9 am – 1 pm 5 days a week (Negotiable)

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player dedicated to helping our kaiako/teachers and students thrive. We are looking for someone who brings:
- Fluency in Te Reo Maaori: Ability to speak and engage confidently in a bilingual environment
- Cultural Competence: A deep understanding of Tikanga Maaroi and a commitment to the special character of Te Hiaroa
- Engagement: A willingness to be actively involved as part of the Rumaki Reo and work alongside our three akomanga/classes
- Personal Qualities: An enthusiastic, positive and flexible approach to supporting student learning and wellbeing.
Requirements:
- Police Vetting: Successful applicants must have completed a police vetting
- Candidates with up to date current vetting documentation are highly encouraged to apply to start promptly
- Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with our tamariki, staff and whaanau/parents.
