Kia Ora Parents/Caregivers and MBS Whaanau,
We are writing to inform you that there will be a ‘lockdown drill’ held today, Tuesday, 19th August, at 1 pm for the whole school.
The procedure and process according to the emergency drills will allow the staff and students to respond safely during a lockdown emergency. It is important that the school follows the correct procedures and this is implemented once throughout the school year and when necessary.
The senior leadership team will lead and support the process according to the Health and safety guidelines, and the students and staff will be kept updated of the requirements during a drill.
All parents and families will receive a notification of the drill. It will identify the time of the drill, and we will explain and provide updated information on our school website.
In a real-life lockdown drill or evacuation at the school, we do ask that you do not attend the school or phone, as we will not be in a position to respond. It may also make the situation difficult and put your child at risk.
We will ensure to support our students with moderate to high needs who may need extra support by their classroom teacher or adult.
We would like to thank you for your support, and there will be a follow-up evaluation of the lockdowndrill to staff and students to share and help us improve on our emergency drill process and procedures.
Ngaa mihi nui
