Term 2 Starts Today. We are so excited to launch our online and distance learning programs. It’s going to be an interesting and challenging time as we learn together and navigate new ways of connecting, communicating and operating. This week will be all about problem-solving trail and error and helping each other out. We ask you to be kind, patient, and persistent with each other. It's through Kotahitanga, working together as one we will improve and have success. Great news we have completed packaging all the devices and the courier is picking them up this morning. If you are waiting on a device they may still take a day or two to be delivered. Everything you need to about logging in and setting up your device is in the box. Your classroom teacher is your first option for logging in and connecting support. If you need further assistance email admin@mangerebridge.school.nz We have also ordered a large number of Hard Learning packs for many families. We do not know when they will arrive but will keep you updated. Have a great day, I know many of you are up and preparing to connect for karakia, class and group zoom meetings today. Do the best you can communicate with us if you need help and most of all have some fun. If you are still waiting on a device you can watch the new Education TV channel and/or go the Ministry of Education website that has some great ideas for learning at home. Check your emails and Seesaw as all teachers have posted a welcome to term 2 letters explaining all about the learning for your child. Remember whaanau this is not replicating 'school at home' it's more about 'learning at home'. Make it, work for your children/ tamariki and whaanau/families. Ministry of Education Learning sites and TV channels launch today.
Online Safety filter for all students![]() FREE N4L safety filter for all students
We've set up a safety filter that parents can set up on their child's learning devices from home. Just go to switchonsafety.co.nz to find clear instructions on how to do this. The free N4L safety filter (by global cyber-security leader, Akamai) blocks websites containing known cyber threats like phishing scams, malicious content and viruses, while also protecting children from content deemed the worst of the web (like adult sites). It is an extension of one of the many safety and security services we have in place at schools and is a valuable layer of protection to help keep children safe online. Please remember that technology is not a silver bullet and the filter should be used in combination with Netsafe's online parent safety toolkit. How does it work? Once a child's device is set up, all internet search requests will go through the safety filter which checks if the website they are trying to visit is safe before allowing access. If it's a website that's known to be unsafe, then it will be blocked. The safety filter is applied to the child's device, so parents' devices are not affected. |
